The department where I work was taken over by another department from the home office last year. Since then, we’ve been forced to adopt their standards. Each month, we learn of something else that is being taken away, downsized or additional reporting that is required. This weekend, we’re being moved to another building where each of us gets smaller digs – except for the chief from the home office. His office space remains suspiciously the same…
As a precaution, I brought home all of my personal belongings that I was afraid the movers might break. So I decided to play a joke on Charles. I left the box of items on the dining room table. He came home and saw it. Knowing how much I love my job (?!), he immediately assumed I quit my job that day. (And after we just renovated the bathrooms and put a new roof on the house!) I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so pale. See, there’s fun in everything.
See Jane Work is the opposite of Office Depot bland. Some of See Jane Work's stuff is a little too girly, but they do have some gender neutral items.
Now that the tiny box I work in will be smaller, I was thinking of organizing it a little better with the items pictured. They call it their Locker Basket Collection, but it kind of reminds me of prison bars. (Seemed appropriate!)
Now I just have to find a good resuscitation kit for Charles. The poor guy won’t survive many more of my practical jokes.

Cubicle Warfare
April Fool's Day is this Wednesday. What have you got? OK, you’d better start preparing now. It’s not too late.
First, pick up a book called Cubicle Warfare. It gives you step by step instructions on office pranks. Find it at your local bookstore.
Second, go to the Museum of Hoaxes' top 100 April Fool's Day Hoaxes for added inspiration.
Now you'd better get moving. You’ve only got two days left and you don't know how long everyone else has been planning.

Veer
You might know of Veer as a site to buy fonts, photo images or illustrations. But they have fun merchandise as well.
A couple of months ago, they sent me a little notebook titled “The Very Secret Order of Creatives Understanding”.
Every couple of pages, there are little creative challenges or quotes to inspire you. For example, one whole page is filled with dots. "Connect the dots" is the note at the bottom of the page. Another page describes a book that was written without ever using the letter E.
It sure helps pass the time when you’re stuck in those endless days of meetings. Everyone thinks you’re taking lots of notes, but just between you and me - well, we know better.
Be sure to check out their clothing too - especially the swashbuckle (belt buckle). Very clever.

Origami Sticky Notes
Let’s continue with the theme of combining two great things. (You do remember Monday’s post about Baconnaise, right? No one will ever forget that.)
Sticky notes and origami.
Sticky notes are great because they keep me organized. My sad little brain is often too taxed to remember anything for more than five minutes. So, I continually reach for my trusty little note pads.
Now, when I’m finished with the sticky note, I can make it into something fun – instead of just throwing it away.
Better hurry, I’m about to buy out their entire stock.

Stick around
Sick of those boring yellow sticky notes? Me too. For one thing, they always come with work attached. And, on top of that, could you get some personality instead of those neon yellow squares?
When I want to thank people at the office, I buy them note pads. Fun ones that inject a little humor into a dull cubicle world. (Plus, don't even think about baking something as a thank you when everyone's on a diet!) This set of note pads even helps the person with time management and creating priorities.
Now that I think about it, I should have a set custom printed, so everyone knows my priorities. Vacation time - today, retirement - soon, winning lotto numbers - someday...

Pimp your cube
Are you a big fan of the MTV show Pimp My Ride? Yeah, me either. It's all about doing the most ridiculous things to a broken down car.
C'mon, what self-respecting person has a car like that to begin with? Instead, the makers of Pimp My Cube have really come up with a product for the masses. Everyone knows how boring those crappy cubes are, right?
This product is absolutely hilarious. Buy one even if you're lucky enough to not work in a cube. Pimp that broom closet they call your office instead.
